THE DIVER’s BOAT
– The Diver’s Boat is an SSI diving center. We teach a variety of courses from beginner level to expert level with SSI. We also accept divers from any other standard certification agency who wish to dive with us or improve their level of certification. We provide, at the end of your course, your original SSI certification card.
The Diver’s Boat features an old traditional Thai fishing boat, converted into a diving boat, to access the best dive sites in Koh Tao. The boat is composed of 3 floors:
– The first floor includes the equipment room, the kitchen, 2 toilets, compressor and location of the tanks.
– On the second floor, there is table and bench, the captain’s cabin and a cabin to rest.
-The top floor, called Sun Deck is semi covered. It allows to enjoy the sun and the view during boat trips, and it is the smoking area.
A propos de SSI
Founded in 1970 by Robert Clark in the state of Colorado in US, SSI is a premier scuba diving instruction organization running schools in many countries of the world. Scuba Schools International provides skills and certifications to successful students that are recognized all over the world. The courses are divided into beginners and advanced, and while there are easy courses like Open Water Diver, there are also long duration and advance level courses such as Deep Diving and Underwater Navigation. SSI is a recipient of ISO certification and also a member of WRSTC.
For more than 45 years, SSI has provided training, scuba diving certification, and educational resources for divers, dive instructors, dive centers and resorts around the world. Started in 1970, SSI has expanded to include more than 30 Service Centers, is represented in more than 110 countries with over 2,800 International locations, and has materials printed in more than 30 languages. SSI is the name to trust in the diving world, and we attribute that success to our uncompromising standards and focused methodology.
Koh Tao is a 21 km² small island situated in the gulf of Thailand, approximately 70 km away from its biggest sister Koh Samui in the south as well as Chumphon on the mainland, the place most ferries going to Koh Tao leave from. Since Tao is the Thai expression for turtle, Koh Tao is also known as Turtle Island and received its name because of its shape that looks like a turtle from above.
Being used as political prison in the 1930s/40s, the natural beauty of Koh Tao, especially the marine life and the coral reef, have fortunately been preserved. In 2015, the island was even classified as No. 1 of the must-see places by Lonely Planet.
